140 Mr. Doherty asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the acreage of lands owned or under the control of the Wildlife Service in the Castlerea and Ballaghaderreen electoral areas of County Roscommon; when these lands were acquired; from whom they were acquired; and the amount paid. [6892/96]
A total of 870 hectare (2,144 acres) of raised bog, was purchased by the National Parks and Wildlife Service in the Castlerea/Ballaghaderreen area of County Roscommon from 1990 to date. While the total expenditure amounted to some £950,000, the Deputy will appreciate that it is not normal practice to give details relating to individual contracts.
