68 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Justice whether provision has been made for a holding cell for prisoners and a lavatory for the use of members of the public in the new large courtroom in the Public Records Office. [7057/96]

Liam Hyland

Ceist:

70 Mr. Hyland asked the Minister for Justice the nature of the remedial works which have been carried out or which require to be carried out before the court in the old Public Records Office will be available for public use. [7059/96]

I propose to answer Questions Nos. 61, 68 and 70 together.

The refurbishment of the Public Records Office has been completed except for some very minor snagging items. The building is available for court use as required by the President of the Circuit Court.

The cost of the refurbishment is £1.2 million approximately.

No provision has been made in this building for detention facilities or for toilet facilities for members of the public. Both detention and toilet facilities are available in the main Four Courts building immediately adjacent to the Public Records Office.
