Vol. 464 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dundalk (Louth) School Correspondence.

Micheál Martin

Ceist:

83 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education, in view of her reply to Priority Question No. 2 on 28 March 1996, the reason she was not aware on 1 March 1996 that the management of Saint Mary's School, Dundalk, had written to her Department independently from the letter received from the parents' group on 10 October 1995. [7777/96]

As I indicated in my reply to Priority Question No. 2 on 28 March 1996. it was only subsequent to the adjournment debate of Tuesday 5 March 1996 that it came to light in the Department that a letter had been received from the principal and teachers of English of St. Mary's College, Dundalk on 15 October 1996. The letter was with papers which had been retained by a senior member of the inspectorate. I apologised to the House on 28 March for inadvertently misleading it on this point in the Adjournment Debate of 5 March 1996.
