Vol. 464 No. 5

Written Answers. - Donegal County Museum.

James McDaid

Ceist:

72 Dr. McDaid asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the current position regarding the extension to Donegal County Museum, Letterkenny, County Donegal. [8444/96]

An application was submitted to my Department for funding under the Cultural Development Incentives Scheme 1994-99, which I am administering under the Operational Programme for Tourism, by Donegal County Council in respect of the proposed extension to the Donegal County Museum in Letterkenny.

As the Deputy will be aware, I have approved in principle the funding of eight projects submitted to me under the scheme in 1994. The advisory committee which I established for this purpose is considering, with a view to making recommendations to me, the other applications received. I expect this process will take approximately another month to complete and I hope to be in a position to approve in principle the funding of further projects and to announce details of these projects in May. A decision will be made on the application submitted by Donegal County Council in respect of the Donegal County Museum, Letterkenny during this process.
