Ceist:

75 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the steps, if any, he intends to take to support the work of the Dún Laoghaire Arts Centre, County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8826/96]

I can confirm to the Deputy that an application has been submitted to my Department for funding under the cultural development incentives scheme 1994-99, which I am administering under the Operational Programme for Tourism, by Dún Laoghaire Arts Centre Limited in respect of the development of an arts centre in Dún Laoghaire.

As the Deputy will be aware, I have approved in principle the funding of eight projects submitted to me under the cultural development incentives scheme 1994-1999. The advisory committee which I have established for this purpose is considering, with a view to making recommendations to me, the other applications received. I expect this process will take approximately another month to complete and I hope to be in a position to approve in principle the funding of further projects and to announce details of these projects in May. A decision will be made on the application submitted by Dún Laoghaire Arts Centre Limited in respect of the arts centre in Dún Laoghaire during this process.
