Vol. 464 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Galway School.

Noel Treacy

Ceist:

45 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Education the reason final works at a school (details supplied) in County Galway have not been completed; the date on which these works will recommence; the amount of money allocated for these works in 1996; the works to be executed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8927/96]

A contract for an extension to the school in question is almost completed. The project is being managed by the Galway Office of the Office of Public Works. The delay in fully completing the works is due to a contractual difficulty that has arisen. I understand that the Office of Public Works is making strenuous efforts to have the difficulty resolved and the works completed. At this stage, I am not in a position to say when the contractor will resume work and complete the project, but I can say that adequate funding is available.
