Vol. 465 No. 5

Written Answers. - Temporary Parole Application.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

50 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice if she will grant temporary parole to a prisoner (details supplied) in view of the fact that his child and stepchild are currently in temporary care and are likely to be taken into permanent care, in order to afford him an opportunity to make the necessary arrangements to place the children in the care of a suitable family who are prepared to accept them until such time as he is released from prison. [9999/96]

The full restoration of the parole arrangements for subversive prisoners in Portlaois prison which existed immediately prior to the resumption of violene on 9 February last is something which will fall to be considered in the event of the cessation being restored. In the meantime, the position is that each parole application is considered on its merits.
