Ceist:116 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the legislation that covers the cutting down of trees in the breeding season from April to July. [10495/96]
Written Answers. - Tree Felling.
The relevant legislation is the Forestry Acts, 1946 to 1988, which provide for control over tree felling operations, including clear-felling and thinning, most notably by the granting or refusal of general and limited felling licences. Excluded from this control are trees located within 100 feet of a building or in urban areas, or required to be felled by certain State agencies. The legislation does not distinguish between trees felled in the period mentioned by the Deputy and those felled in any other period.
