Written Answers. - Mediator Appointment.
The Defence Forces conciliation and arbitration scheme provides for the appointment of a mediator in certain circumstances for the processing of a claim in respect of pay or other conditions of service. The problem referred to by the Deputy concerns consultations on the EAG plan and does not fall into this category. In any event, I believe that officials of my Department and PDFORRA are making progress on the EAG issues and there is no necessity for mediation.
It is always my policy to seek to resolve problems through ongoing discussion. It is a policy which I feel yields results and which I am anxious to continue.
