Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Broughan — the need to re-examine the provision of resources for orthodontic dental care on the northside of Dublin; (2) Deputy Eric Byrne — the need to ensure that sentencing policy is consistent in view of a recent case in which an individual convicted of stealing goods with a total value of £31 was sentenced to five years in prison; (3) Deputy Kathleen Lynch — the effects on the work of FÁS community employment schemes of recent changes in the eligibility criteria for such schemes with particular reference to the many arts-based schemes in operation and the effects on the employment prospects of those working in the arts; (4) Deputy Nealon — the need to protect the rights of fishermen on Lough Arrow, County Sligo, in view of the difficulties being created as a result of the closure of a traditional access point for boats at Ballyrush Bridge; (5) Deputy Seán Ryan — the safety of plastic tanks for the storage of heating oil and the regulations, if any, for the installation of such tanks; (6) Deputy Hugh Byrne — the urgent need for proper veterinary inspections of meat in local authority areas in which the requirements of the Abattoirs Act, 1988, have not yet been implemented; (7) Deputy McDaid — the urgent need for funding for the completion of the community hall project in Raphoe, County Donegal; (8) Deputy Shortall — the problem of truck parking in residential areas; (9) Deputy Kenneally — the need for a new technical school at Dungarvan, County Waterford; (10) Deputy Ned O'Keeffe — the use which the Taoiseach intends to make of the five yearly census of population as recently compiled; (11) Deputy Dermot Ahern — the difference in treatment between the Packard Electric and Keytronic Europe Dundalk employees.

The matters raised by Deputies Ned O'Keeffe, Kenneally, Dermot Ahern and Hugh Byrne have been selected for discussion.
