Vol. 466 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Transport Problem.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

164 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education if she will have arrangements made for an official from her Department to meet with a delegation of parents with regard to a school transport problem (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that Deputy Ring requested a meeting with Bus Éireann in Ballina, County Mayo, on 2 April 1996 and no response was received. [11408/96]

Matters relating to school transport arrangements at post-primary level should be addressed in the first instance to the appropriate transport liaison officer. The chief executive officer of each vocational education committee acts as transport liaison officer of my Department.

The school transport problem referred to is being examined at present by my Department and a report will be conveyed to the Deputy in due course. A meeting, may if necessary, be arranged at that time.
