Vol. 466 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Séamus Hughes

Ceist:

177 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Education the progress, if any, that has been the made by his Department in assessing the needs of a school (details supplied) in County Mayo in respect of its existing and future accommodation needs; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11502/96]

My Department has completed an assessment of the accommodation needs of the school referred to by the Deputy. The assessment indicates that the present facilities are not ideal. Due to the current level of contractual commitments on the primary school building programme it is not possible to provide grant assistance towards a building project at the school immediately. The school's needs will be considered again in the light of future capital allocations. The school was advised of the position in a letter in March 1996.
