Vol. 466 No. 4

Written Answers. - Disadvantaged Area Status.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

274 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a townland (details supplied) in County Kilkenny was not included in the recent extension of the disadvantaged areas; and if he will have arrangements made to have an appeal accepted and the particular townland included in view of the fact that it meets the criteria. [11678/96]

I have had this matter investigated, and assume that the Deputy is referring to the townlands of Damerstown East and Damerstown West in the district electoral division of Muckalee, County Kilkenny.

Both of these townlands exceeded the stocking density limit of 0.99 livestock units per forage hectare, and the income limit of 80 per cent of national average income. It was not possible for the disadvantaged areas appeals panel to recommend their inclusion in the proposal for extension of the disadvantaged areas.
