Vol. 466 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tax Liability.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

78 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Finance the help that can be offered to a cross-Border worker (details supplied) in Derry who cannot maintain the loan repayments on a tax bill received. [11459/96]

I am advised by the Revenue Commissioners that according to their records there is no tax outstanding from the taxpayer in question.

Repayments on a loan which a person arranges with a financial institution is a private matter between that person and the financial institution concerned. It will be appreciated that it is not appropriate for me or the Revenue Commissioners to intervene in such an arrangement.

On the general note I should mention that taxpayers who are experiencing difficulty paying their tax liabilities can, of course, approach the Revenue Commissioners with a view to agreeing phased payment arrangements.
