Vol. 466 No. 5

Written Answers. - Methadone Programme.

Eamon Walsh

Ceist:

71 Mr. E. Walsh asked the Minister for Health the names of community-based programmes involved in detoxification with methadone in Dublin south-west; the locations of these programmes; and the names and locations of the groups which have applied for financial assistance. [11821/96]

Limerick East): The provision of drug misuse services is a matter for the Eastern Health Board in the first instance. The board has informed me that three community groups are at present involved in detoxification with methadone in Dublin south-west. The community groups are Fettercairn Voluntary Community Initiative, Clondalkin Addiction Support Project (CASP) and Killinarden Community Group.

Both Fettercairn voluntary community initiative and Clondalkin addiction support group have been provided with financial support by the board. Discussions have taken place with local representatives of all groups including the Killinarden group and the board will meet with them again at the end of June to finalise arrangements regarding ongoing support for all projects.
