Vol. 467 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Cork School.

Frank Crowley

Ceist:

128 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Education when renovation work will begin at a school (details supplied) in County Cork; whether tenders have been advertised; if so, the closing date for receipt of such applications; the names and addresses of the successful consultant and sub-contractors employed by his Department; the amount of advance grant paid by his Department; the percentage to be paid by parents and the school; and the commencement and completion date of the contracts. [13016/96]

The current position regarding the proposed renovation work at the school referred to by the Deputy is that the school authorities, who are the employing body have appointed a consulting engineer, Matt O'Mahony and Associates, 8 Sidney Place, Wellington Road, Cork, to oversee the project. On 24 May my Department asked the school to request the consulting engineer to seek tenders which should be submitted to my Department for vetting by 24 June 1996. My Department will provide 85 per cent grant assistance towards the cost of the project with 15 per cent being contributed by the local community. As a contract has yet to be awarded, I am not in a position at this stage to indicate the commencement and completion date of the contracts.
