17 Mr. McCreevy asked the Minister for Justice the current street value of commonly used illegal drugs; the comparative value of such drugs on corresponding dates for each of the past five years; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12904/96]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that, given the clandestine nature of the illicit drugs trade, it is not possible to provide the information sought by the Deputy.

What I can provide is information relating to the quantities of certain commonly-used drugs seized, by reference to weight or number, over the last five years which is as follows:
