Vol. 467 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Clare Sewerage Schemes.

Willie O'Dea

Ceist:

149 Mr. O'Dea asked the Minister for the Environment the proposals, if any, he has to provide a new sewage disposal system at Lisdoonvarna, County Clare. [13515/96]

The Lisdoonvarna sewerage scheme is one of the high priority projects included in an application to the European Commission for Cohesion Fund assistance for water and sewerage schemes in the Burren and North Clare area. To date no decision has been received. Pending the Commission's decision, and having regard to the existing level of commitments under the water and sewerage schemes programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve this scheme.

Ceist:

150 Mr. O'Dea asked the Minister for the Environment whether it has been decided to proceed with a new sewerage scheme at Killaloe, County Clare and Sixmilebridge, County Clare; if so, when these schemes will commence; and the anticipated cost of these schemes. [13516/96]

Both projects are included in the water and sewerage capital works programme for 1996. Construction is about to commence on the Killaloe scheme, costing £2.4 million. Construction of the Sixmilebridge scheme, costing £2.7 million, is expected to commence later this year.
