Vol. 467 No. 4

Written Answers. - Funding for Gaelscoileanna.

Hugh Byrne

Ceist:

165 Mr. H. Byrne asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to an application for funding for Gael Scoil, Inis Coirthe, Contae Loch Gorman; if so, when such funding will be allocated; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13681/96]

John Browne

Ceist:

178 Mr. Browne (Wexford) asked the Minister for Education when approval will be given for the establishment of a Gaelscoil in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, in view of the fact that the requirements as laid down by her Department are in order; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13310/96]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 165 and 178 together.

An application for provisional recognition of the proposed Gaelscoil in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, has been received in my Department.

The application is currently being processed in the light of a report which has recently been received in the matter. It is anticipated that a decision will be made on the application shortly and will be conveyed to the applicants without delay.

The question of providing funding for a school does not arise until it has been granted recognition.
