191 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Education the allowance, if any, that will be made to compensate honours mathematics leaving certificate students for the error in question 4(c) of paper II in the 1996 examination in view of the time wasted and the psychological upset caused to students taking this and subsequent papers. The marking scheme for question 4 (c) of the leaving certificate higher level mathematics paper (II) examination will be adapted to ensure that all reasonable attempts at the section of the question containing the error will receive due credit. If the candidate states that there is a problem with the question and makes a reasonable attempt due allowance will be given.
