Vol. 467 No. 4

Written Answers. - Funding for Accommodation Developments.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

249 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the decisions, if any, that have been taken by the National Monetary Committee and the Co-ordinating Committee for the Operational Programme for Tourism which provided additional funding for accommodation-related developments; if he will give a breakdown in this regard; the source from which these funds were allocated; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13503/96]

The Operational Programme for Tourism 1994-99 originally provided EU grant aid of £12.03 million for specialist accommodation-related developments. In 1995, the National Monitoring Committee, which oversees the implementation of the programme, agreed to provided additional resources for this measure amounting to £4.052 million. These additional funds were sourced from provisions provided by the EU for the programme to compensate for inflation, and from Measures 1 and 4 of the product development sub-programme as identified by the implementing tourism agencies.
