281 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the number of projects that have applied for grant aid from each county enterprise board in 1995; the number of projects that have been approved by each board in 1995; the average level of grant aid provided by each board; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Deputy will appreciate that matters relating to project applications to county enterprise boards fall within the day-to-day responsibility of the boards.

It is not possible to quantify the number of projects which applied to the 35 county enterprise boards for grant aid in 1995. Very many applications are received by each board, some of which are not considered appropriate to a particular board; others are refused because the project is not considered by the board to be a worthwhile or viable proposal.

The information concerning the number of projects approved by each CEB in 1995 is contained in table (1), which I am circulating with the Official Report. The average level of grant aid approved by each board in 1995 is set out in table (2), which I am also circulating with the official report.
