Ceist:304 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he has established a policy position in relation to the milk quota system from the year 2000 onwards; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13624/96]
Written Answers. - Milk Quota System.
There is a range of issues to be considered in relation to longer term policy for the dairy sector, including the place, if any, of the quota system. The European Commission has stated it will give indications of its proposals as regards longer term price and quota policy next year. As part of the formulation of Ireland's approach to these discussions, a group broadly representative of the sector is currently examining the broad policy choices likely to be considered.
