Vol. 467 No. 4

Written Answers. - Army Apprenticeship School.

Máire Geoghegan-Quinn

Ceist:

321 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for Defence the proposals, if any, he has involving the Army Apprenticeship School in the Curragh, County Kildare; if so, the implications, if any, these proposals may have on education and training in the Army; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13291/96]

At present my Department has no proposals involving the Army Apprentice School, Naas. However, apprentice training is kept under review and was considered most recently in the context of the efficiency audit group review of the Defence Forces.

Phase 1 of the Defence Forces Review Implementation Plan proposes a revised training structure for all aspects of military training and it is proposed that the current system of apprentice training will be reviwed in that context.
