Ceist:

34 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the role of the marketing management boards; and the membership of the marketing management boards. [13339/96]

The Operational Programme for Tourism 1994-1999, agreed between the Irish Government and the European Commission in July 1994 included specific provision for a Marketing Management Board to decide on applications for EU grant assistance under the Marketing Sub-Programme. The board comprises three independent business/professional members, two Bord Fáilte personnel and one official from my Department. The membership of the board thus brings broad practical business and professional experience to the decision making process to augment the tourism-related expertise of Bord Fáilte and my Department.

The composition of the Marketing Management Board is as follows:
