My initial objective in this area is to ensure that my Department and its agencies all have sites on the net. My Department has been on-line as part of the Government site since last month. Bord Fáilte hopes to launch its site by July. Shannon Development's Tourism Home Page is also under construction and expected to be completed within the next couple of weeks.
CERT hopes to launch its site by late summer, which will provide immediate access to information on tourism training opportunities to potential users. Meanwhile, it has begun providing Internet awareness programmes for tourism managers to encourage usage by the industry and highlight the marketing opportunities available on the Internet for Irish tourism. Already companies providing access by land and sea to Ireland have sites detailing their schedules.
