Vol. 467 No. 4

Written Answers. - Footwear Imports.

James Leonard

Ceist:

69 Mr. Leonard asked the Taoiseach the value of footwear imports in the last year for which figures are available; and the percentage this represents of the requirements of the Irish market. [13632/96]

Estimated imports of footwear were valued at £159 million in 1995. It is not possible to state what percentage this represents of the requirements of the Irish market as neither the value of production nor consumer purchases of footwear are available.

Overall, approximately 10 per cent of trade is unclassified by commodity. The unclassified trade includes intra-EU estimates, low value transactions and some parcel post and Shannon Free Airport trade.
