Vol. 467 No. 4
73 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Finance whether the terms of reference of the task force on the establishment of a casino include the consideration of a number of locations; and, if so, the locations considered. [13619/96]
74 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Finance when the inter-agency task force that is considering all aspects of licensing a casino will report; and whether the report will be published. [13563/96]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 73 and 74 together.
The Government considered the report of the inter-agency task force on casinos at a recent meeting. In the context of a proposal received from the RDS to construct a national conference centre without recourse to an annual subvention, the Government has decided not to give further consideration to the introduction of legislation to provide for a casino or casinos. There are no plans to publish the task force report. The terms of reference of the task force did not extend as far as considering the suitability of particular locations as sites for casinos.
