312 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of long-term unemployed on the live register for the latest date for which figures are available; and the comparative figures for each of the years 1994 and 1995. [14264/96]
Statistics for the numbers of unemployed people are compiled by the Central Statistics Office. An analysis by unemployment duration is compiled twice a year in respect of a date in April and a date in October.
The following table sets out the number of persons on the live register for various durations of continuous registration in October 1994 and October 1995. The equivalent figures for April 1996 will be published by the Central Statistic Office later this month.
