144 Mr. M. Ahern asked the Minister for Education if she will approve the appointment of an extra teacher for an all-Irish stream introduced in a school (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14567/96]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 135 and 144 together.
The schools' applications for additional staffing for an all-Irish stream for the 1995-96 school year was previously rejected.
Revised applications have been submitted and are currently being examined in conjunction with a review of the staffing requirements for all-Irish streams in mainstream schools. As yet, no decision has been reached in this matter.
Officials from my Department will notify the boards of management as soon as a decision has been taken on the matter.
