24 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Defence the number of occasions on which the Government jet was used between 1 January 1995 and 31 May 1995; the journeys undertaken and the total number of hours flown in this period; the number of occasions on which the Government jet was used between 1 January 1996 and 31 May 1996; the journeys undertaken and the total number of hours flown in this period; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In the period between 1 January 1995 and 31 May 1995 the Gulfstream IV aircraft was used on 65 occasions to provide ministerial transport. This involved a total of 223 flying hours. In the same period this year the aircraft was used on 57 occasions involving 284 flying hours.
The details of the flights in both years are in the form of tabular statements which I propose to circulate in the Official Report.
