Limerick East): The South-Eastern Health Board is responsible for the delivery of health services, including mental health services in its functional area which includes County Wexford.
I have been informed by the board that it considers the up-grading of the acute admission unit at St. Senan's Hospital as a priority development in the context of overall development of psychiatric services in its functional area. I was pleased to make the sum of £100,000 capital funding available in 1996 to allow the up-grading of the unit to begin and I understand that work will commence shortly.
