Brennan asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the estimated total cost to his Department of all bulletins, pamphlets, newsletters, circulars arising from Ireland's Presidency of the EU; and the estimated total additional cost to his Department of Ireland's Presidency, indicating the major items of expense. The estimated total cost to my Department of all bulletins, pamphlets, newsletters, circulars arising from Ireland's Presidency of the EU is likely to be in the region of £1,000.
The estimated total additional costs, exclusive of the above, incurred by my Department in relation to Ireland's Presidency are likely to be in the region of £110,000. The major expenditure will be on travel and subsistence at an approximate cost of £85,000. The cost of a conference on 7-8 October to launch the "EU Fourth Medium-term Action Programme on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men (1996-2000) — Mechanisms for Mainstreaming" will be in the region of £25,000. Further additional costs as yet to be determined, will be incurred in hosting a conference in November on disability.
