Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ballymore (Westmeath) Sewerage Scheme.

Mary O'Rourke

Ceist:

362 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider the application for a group sewerage scheme for Ballymore, County Westmeath; if his attention has been drawn to the fact it is hoped that the group sewerage scheme can be installed in tandem with the south Westmeath regional water scheme which is due to commence in September 1996; if these arrangements can be jointly made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16835/96]

An outline proposal for a group sewerage scheme at Ballymore was recently received in my Department and is being examined with a view to determining the feasibility of what is proposed. If the group proposal were considered viable, it would still take some considerable time to complete the detailed planning and contractual arrangements. Given that the public water supply civil works contract is currently under way, it would not be possible to construct the sewerage scheme in conjunction with this contract.
