Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - Meath Training and Education Centre.

Mary Wallace

Ceist:

450 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Education if she will provide funding for a co-ordinator/tutor for the Meath Training and Education Centre in Navan, County Meath; and if she will make available such other support as may be necessary to ensure the success of this valuable endeavour for assisting children with disabilities. [16906/96]

My Department has received an application for recognition and funding from the Meath Training and Education Centre, Navan, County Meath.

My Department's involvement in such centres is confined to the allocation of part-time tuition hours. The needs of the centre in this regard are currently being examined by my Department's inspectorate and I would expect a decision to be taken shortly.

The question of granting formal recognition to such centres and general issues relating to funding needs are a matter for the relevant health authorities.
