Written Answers. - Criminal Insanity Legislation.
As I announced on 5 June 1996, I have obtained Government approval for the drafting of a Bill to amend the law relating to criminal insanity. The Bill will provide a comprehensive review of all aspects of the law in this area and, among other things, will propose a new verdict of "not guilty by reason of insanity" to replace the present "guilty but insane" verdict.
