Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - Community Employment Programme.

Mary O'Rourke

Ceist:

604 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the number of people currently on each of the two options under the Community Employment Programme; the numbers on work place, jobstart, the pilot whole-time job option and on measures for 18/19 year olds. [16990/96]

The two options which now exist under the CE programme — part-time job option and part-time integration option — were only introduced last April and are to be phased in before the end of 1997, as existing participants must be allowed complete their term on CE first.

The pilot whole-time job option, called "The Job Initiative" was launched at the end of July and the relevant area partnerships who have responsibility for recruitment are actively promoting and initiating recruitment at present.

The special measures for 18-19 year olds are due to commence on 1 October next.

The following table outlines details of the numbers participating on the various CE options together with those on Work Place and Jobstart at the end of August 1996.
