Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - Labour Force Survey-Live Register Figures.

Noel Ahern

Ceist:

94 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Taoiseach if he will give details of the Labour Force Survey and the live register figures in respect of each of the past ten years; and if he will give details of the growing gap and discrepancies between both sets of data. [16795/96]

The information requested by the Deputy is set out in the following two tables which show the principal economic status — PES — results of the Labour Force Survey, the live register total and details of the difference between the LFS estimate of unemployment and the live register.

+ Means the Live Register exceeds the Labour Force Survey estimate.
* The Labour Force Survey also includes a small number of persons aged 65 or over who describe themselves as unemployed. They are included in the calculation of the total column.
