647 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the amount of money available to his Department for research; the source of such funds; the time frame for their expenditure; the procedures in his Department for their expenditure; the amount, purpose and recipient of all moneys awarded in each of the years from 1994 to 1996; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Due to the broad scope of this question, my Department will provide information to the Deputy as soon as possible. The Deputy might also wish to consult the 1996 annual report of Forfás, the Science and Technology Agency, which contains an analysis of research activities within my Department and which provides much of the information requested. The report will be published shortly and will be available in the Oireachtas Library.
