Vol. 469 No. 3

Written Answers. - Ferbane (Offaly) Crime Levels.

Pat Gallagher

Ceist:

175 Mr. P. Gallagher (Laoighis-Offaly) asked the Minister for Justice if her attention has been drawn to the concerns regarding crime levels in the Ferbane area of County Offaly; if her attention has further been drawn to local concerns regarding the level of Garda cover in the area; and if she will ensure that 24 hour on-duty Garda presence is restored to the area through the local Garda station. [17476/96]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that there has been a downward trend in the level of crime in the area in question since 1993. I am further informed that the Garda authorities are satisfied that the policing needs of the area are being adequately served by current arrangements.
