174 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, the Government has to amend the legislation in relation to the granting of passports associated with investments by foreign nationals; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17733/96]
In line with the commitment in the programme for Government, the Government has decided that the investment-based naturalisation scheme will be put on a statutory basis. Pending the enactment of appropriate legislation in this respect, no new applications under the scheme are being considered by my Department.
