Vol. 469 No. 5

Written Answers. - Flood Relief Schemes.

James Leonard

Ceist:

90 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Finance the amount of funding approved for localised flood relief schemes since the Arterial Drainage (Amendment) Act, 1995. [17911/96]

Funds for the collection of hydrometric data required in connection with the preparation of flood relief schemes, the investigation of and preparation of scheme designs, including cost benefit analysis and environmental impact statements for flood relief schemes and execution of localised flood relief schemes are provided under Subheads L1 and L2 respectively of the Vote for the Office of Public Works. A total of over £5.1 million of the almost £7.3 million provided in those Subheads for the years 1995 and 1996 has been allocated for these purposes, the balance being utilised in carrying out works on the Boyle Catchment Drainage Scheme in 1995 and meeting outstanding compensation claims arising from completed drainage schemes.
