Vol. 469 No. 7

Written Answers. - Access to Floating Jetties.

John Ellis

Ceist:

104 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht if he will provide access to the floating jetties on Lough Allen, which have been provided by the Office of Public Works. [18170/96]

During the recent development to reopen Lough Allen to navigation floating Jetties were provided by the waterways service of my Department at Spencer Harbour and Cleighran More. These jetties were provided primarily for refuge for vessels using the navigation in inclement weather. Longer term proposals include the provision of shore access to and from these facilities and this is currently being examined in the context of the resources available and the necessity to acquire the riparian lands involved.
