Vol. 469 No. 7

Written Answers. - Sports Strategy Group Report.

Helen Keogh

Ceist:

113 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Education if the special working group set up to examine impediments facing women in sport has reported; and if so, the action, if any, which will be taken on foot of any such report. [18053/96]

The sport strategy group was established in November 1995 by the Minister of State with responsibility for sport. The group's task is to prepare a national strategy for the development of sport in Ireland and it is expected to complete its work later this year.

As part of its detailed and comprehensive review of Irish sport, the involvement of women at all levels and in all aspects of sport is being explored by the group. The issues identified and clarified by the group will form the basis for a comprehensive review of policy for sport in Ireland.
