Vol. 470 No. 1

Written Answers. - Upkeep of Child.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

161 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health the allowances available for the upkeep of the child being fostered by his grandparents arising from his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 102 of 8 October 1996. [18464/96]

Allowances paid in respect of children who are in the care of health boards, and who are not placed in a residential setting, are made under the Child Care (Placement of Children in Foster Care) Regulations, 1995, and the Child Care (Placement of Children with Relatives) Regulations, 1995. I wish to stress that health boards only pay these allowances in respect of children who are in their care.

As I indicated in my previous reply, this child is not in the care of the Eastern Health Board. If the person in question wishes to obtain any further advice in the matter, she should contact her local health centre.
