Vol. 470 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Project Priority.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

224 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education whether Culkeeny national school, Scoil Colmcille, Culkeeny, Malin, County Donegal, has moved in priority from number two to number six on a list over the past few months in spite of the fact that plans were passed by Donegal County Council in October 1995; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18525/96]

A building project at Scoil Cholmchill, Malin, County Donegal was included in my Department's 1995 primary school capital programme. The inclusion of the project in the programme enables the project to progress through the planning process to construction. This project is at advanced architectural planning and planning permission was obtained in April 1996.

At present, my Department's architectural service is preparing the contract documentation. When the project is ready for tender, a decision on the timing of the tender process will be made in the light of financial resources available.

The prioritisation of projects arises only after the contract documentation has been completed. The school is not yet at this stage and consequently the prioritisation issues does not arise.
