240 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Justice if she will expedite delays in the Land Registry in relation to an application by a person (details supplied) in County Sligo which has been outstanding for some time and is causing severe hardship to this person. [18459/96]
I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under Section 49 — acquisition of title by virtue of long possession — of the Registration of Title Act, 1964 which was lodged on 25 August 1995. A number of queries have issued to the lodging solicitor and the most recent response was received in the Land Registry on 16 September 1996. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under Section 49 take some time to process and it is not possible to estimate a completion time at this stage.
However, I can confirm that the matter has been expedited by the Land Registry.
