111 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Justice the number of persons awaiting trial in respect of offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1977 and 1984, other than persons charged solely with offences under section 3 of the 1977 Act, as of 30 September 1996, who have been remanded on bail by the Dublin Metropolitan District Court pending the hearing of their case. [18385/96]
Court records show that as of 30 September, 1996, there were 161 defendants currently remanded on bail by the Dublin Metropolitan District Court sitting in Chancery Street in respect of offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1977 and 1984 other than offences under section 3 of the 1977 Act, pending the hearing of their case.
Similar statistics in respect of the Dublin Metropolitan District Court sitting at other venues are not maintained and could only be obtained by the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of staff time.
