157 Mr. Bree asked the Minister for Education the proposals, if any, she has received from Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim, for the provision of a 25 metre public indoor swimming pool; if so, the funding, if any, which is available in respect of such a proposal; and if she will make a statement on the matter. My Department has no record of receiving any proposals from Carrick-on-Shannon to build a 25 metre swimming pool.
The Deputy will be aware, however, that the Department of the Environment has primary responsibility for local authority swimming pools and administers a national lottery funded scheme for the provision and refurbishment of swimming pools.
