Vol. 470 No. 7

Written Answers. - Gort (Galway) Health Services.

Noel Treacy

Ceist:

88 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Health if he will sanction a project (details supplied) in County Galway; the reason for the delay in sanctioning this project; if he will give details of the project to be sanctioned; the date on which sanction will be given; the amount of money to be allocated in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19799/96]

Limerick East): The provision of health services in Gort is a matter for the Western Health Board in the first instance. The board has informed me that it is satisfied with the level of community care facilities which are currently being provided in Gort. However, the board plans in 1997, to further develop the mental health service in Gort by providing a day care centre and separate group home for persons with mental illness. Capital funding for the proposed project in 1997 will be considered in the light of the funding available next year for the development of mental health services throughout the country and competing priorities.
